We’ve officially entered the busy season. We’re back to school and all the big Holidays are on the horizon. I’m already seeing Christmas decorations in Costco. And for those goal-getters, do I even need to remind you that there’s less than 4 months left to achieve this year’s goals? Let’s not even talk about the fact that it’s also an election year (for all the Americans reading this).

For some of us, our anxiety tends to run high this time of year, and for logical reasons, whether it’s time or financial stress, or maybe you’ve experienced a loss that is amplified as you traverse this season.

It’s been 2 weeks since receiving my black belt

It’s been 2 weeks since receiving my black belt and I still am in shock. It feels amazing to have reached a long time goal after 10 years of training, tournaments, injuries, and seeing my training partners come and go.

My awesome co-instructor, training partner and friend @whitney.hosseini gifted this belt rack to me, and seeing all the belts in one place just brings back so many memories. Each previous promotion, all the hard work, all the frustration, and all the emotions that come out when you come to train on even your hardest days.

No matter what goal you’re working toward, the fundamental principle is the same: don’t give up.

The second thing to always remember is that you can’t do it alone. Find your people, do life with them, put them first, give back whenever you can.

I think we’ve all asked the question, what is Go

I think we’ve all asked the question, what is God’s will for my life? Yet, we never seem to be satisfied with the answer. We expect something more complex, but the answer has been and always will simply be to love.

This month, I feel compelled to refocus my eyes on this simple truth of God’s Word, and that is to love God and love others as the only way to walk in His ways, to fully soak in His presence, and to experience the abundance of His goodness.

The answer isn’t to work harder or to sin less. It’s just to love more. Join me here and over on Substack as I explore all that this means. And even open the Bible to discover for yourself what’s plainly there for the whole world to freely see.

The timeless gift of love is for all who will receive it.
