The True Meaning of Christmas – Day 1

We have officially entered the “Holiday” season! It’s here, it’s here! Christmas Day is almost here! This time of year there’s always a special buzz all about. But as we enter this special time of year, we must be careful to not get so caught up in the busyness and chaos that we miss out on the purpose of the season.

Christmas lights, trees, decorations, presents and parties are all wonderful parts of this holiday, and we know that God loves for us to celebrate, especially when the guest of honor is His Son – but let’s make sure that we are actually giving attention to Jesus!

“Christmas is a season of not only rejoicing, but of reflection.” -Winston Churchill

Traditions can cause us to lose sight of the true reason behind why we celebrate. It is only because of Jesus that we celebrate Christmas. He was sent to earth to give us life and love and hope. That is a HUGE reason to celebrate!

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called WONDERFUL COUNSELOR, MIGHTY GOD, EVERLASTING FATHER, PRINCE OF PEACE. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness & justice from the throne of his ancestor David for ALL ETERNITY. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen.” – Isaiah 9:6-7

This holiday season, let us commit to spreading the truth about why we celebrate.

I’m grateful that we set aside a whole month every year to celebrate the freedom that God gave us – in the form of a tiny, little, perfect baby – his Son.

I pray we can slow down and reflect on what this season is all about –> God’s Love – and that we can use this time to spread that love to everyone around us. It is a perfect opportunity for those near us to experience the hope and peace that having a relationship with God, through his Son, brings.

Let us not get so caught up on the activities that we forget to share the Truth & Love of the Season.

Blessings!
