Ditchin’ School…

Thursday, October 10th, 2013

Well, not really – these were actually taken on a Sunday, but he felt so cool to call the session “Ditchin’ School.” And when did my sweet baby boy grow to be so big? These must be his official nine year photos, even though we’re six months late. Hey, as long as he’s still nine, right? It counts!

I had only heard about how wonderful parking garage light can be and I loved the edgy / grungy feel that a parking garage would give for a boy session.  So with many “do we have to take photos, mom” questions, we embarked on what I promised him would be quick photo shoot. I think I probably took longer than I promised, but the results were worth it – especially when he saw them and commented, “wow, I’m hot!” I’d prefer to say he’s handsome though. Afterall, who can resist those dimples?

Sante Fe Train Depot Family Session – {San Diego Family Photographer}

Monday, July 23rd, 2012

This session took place at the Sante Fe Train Depot in downtown San Diego. This family is from out of state and was down here on business, so it only made sense to make the session be travel themed. They even brought their own vintage suitcase, which makes the session that much more special to them! It was a challenge to photograph them with so many people around, and all of the lighting from reflective surfaces caused lots of weird lighting situations and color casts, but my experience allowed me to see what was happening before I even pressed the shutter, and I was able to work with it in a way that allowed post processing to go as smooth as possible.  I love the perspective of them compared to the high ceilings. Their favorite shot was taken in front of the fountain, with their goofy faces and all.

Around Town – {San Diego Children’s Photographer}

Friday, June 1st, 2012

A couple weeks ago, on one of my normal routes around town, I saw fields of beautiful yellow flowers that I just had to photograph! I could just picture it – sunset, my pretty children, and a sea of gold in the background. To make it more enjoyable, or to basically kill at least 3 birds with one stone, the kids and I set on an adventure on our bikes.  I promised them that we would play at the park, as long as they would appease me by stopping whenever I saw the perfect setting for photos. Overall, it went really well, and I was able to find several new, awesome photo shoot locations.  These are places I probably would not have really found if we had just drove to the park.  I’m just so thrilled with the lighting in these locations and am in love with these photos (I think I probably always say that, don’t I?)

East County Urban Family Session – Santee, Lakeside, El Cajon Photographer

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

Usually, when I’m asked to do an urban, edgy style session, I immediately think of downtown San Diego, with its cool architecture, bright colors, and aged buildings. But the weather has been pretty gray and yucky near the coast, so at the last minute, we decided to stay in East County and find urban locations where the light still shines golden instead of gray. It was fun to get out and around in my neighborhood and see that there are some really great photo spots that have that urban feel to them!
This family is one of the coolest, sweetest families I know – and the kids are so polite and fun to be around. The session was a breeze and I’m super excited about these photos!
